Many of us hold ourselves strictly accountable to the promises we make to others. That aspect of accountability is very important. But when it comes to making sure  we  deliver on the promises we’ve made to ourselves, we often postpone, deny or give ourselves a ‘pass.’ We all need to know we can rely on ourselves. Keeping your promise to take the 20 minutes you need to meditate, wash your car, leave work on time or call your best friend, for example, is critical not only because you need the restoration, but because it also reminds you that you can rely on yourself. And in an especially unpredictable world, it is imperative to have an ally you can count on! Feeling alone is generally depleting and feeling supportive is reliably restorative! Be a reliable friend to yourself.
